Hong Kong Triathletes Won 3 Gold & 3 Silver in Overseas Race

 (Mekong River International Multisport ITU Asian Cup 2008)

Chiangsaen, Chiangrai Province, Thailand, 28-30 March 2008

 

Hong Kong athletes have won 3 gold medals and 3 silver medals in the first 2 days of the "MEKONG RIVER INTERNATIONAL MULTISPORT ITU ASIAN CUP 2008” in Thailand on the first two day of the race (28-29 March, 2008). 

The first 2 medals were in the Aquathon Championships over a 1500m swim and 5k run.  Champion was WU SUM YI (33MIN 03SECS) followed by CHAN LONG CHING (33MINS 03 SECS) in a photo finish.  Today was the ITU Asian Duathlon Junior Championships over a tough course of 2.5k run, 20k cycle and 2.5k run with LO CHIN HIN, IVAN coming first with a time of 1hr 03min 44 secs. He was followed closely by CHAN CHUN LUNG, ALAN with a time of 1hr 03mins 49 secs.  In the female event, HUI WAI SUM, VINCCI beat KIMBERLY KWAN by 4mins to finish with a time of 1hr 10min 45 secs.

Tomorrow is the first ITU ASIAN TRIATHLON EVENT OF 2008 and the first chance for Asian Triathletes to score points in Asian towards the Olympics. Daniel Lee, Tania Mak and Andrew Wright are all racing tomorrow.
